This Thursday we will celebrate Thanksgiving.
Below we have listed some facts you may not know about Thanksgiving:

  • -The Plymouth Pilgrims were the first to celebrate the Thanksgiving feast
  • -The Pilgrim leader Governor Will Bradford had organized the First Thanksgiving feast in 1621
  • -The first Thanksgiving Feast lasted 3 days.
  • -Forks weren’t used, but they did use spoons, knives and their fingers.
  • -Benjamin Franklin wanted the National Bird to be the Turkey.
  • -President Lincoln declared in 1863 the final Thursday in November a National Day of Thanksgiving, but it wasn’t until 1941 that it was made an official Holiday.
  • -The First Macy’s Day Parade took Place in New York City In 1924.
  • -Snoopy has appeared more times in the Macy’s day parade than any other character.
  • -The first time the Detroit Lions played on Thanksgiving was in 1934 and they played the Chicago Bears. Detroit lost 19-16.
